Buckeyes & Blueberries-beautiful, updated cottage overlooking Somes Sound and Acadia National Park

This home is fantastic in many ways. The porch alone was great enough to have us spend much of our time there. Peaceful with a great Mountain View. We saw deer grazing in the yard and heard many birds. The house is really nicely laid out, with two great areas to relax indoors, allowing us to either aid together or find privacy. It is bright and clean. We ran out of propane for the grill and the owner graciously and quickly replaced it, and we had a pleasant chat. The location is excellent. Quick to get to Bar Harbor and all of the southern places if interest. The only non-5-star I left was for the description because though the listing says water view, and there are photos of it, the water was blocked by trees. Maybe water is visible in the winter when leaves fall, but I am guessing the trees all grew since the photos were taken. I would not let that stop me from going again though. We loved everything about this home! I stayed with my husband and our 2 college-aged kids (sadly our 2 older children weren't able to make it due to work) and the property was perfect. Clean, comfortable, spacious, lovely decor. Highlights include the two-level deck with propane grill, incredibly comfy couches, fully equipped kitchen, and collection of board games that we played nightly at the large kitchen table. The location is perfect for exploring all of MDI... centrally located to Bar Harbor, SW Harbor, Somes Pond, NW Harbor and all of the best Acadia trails and activities. Plus a grocery store, gas station with large convenience store, and mini golf within a few minutes drive. We'd definitely book here again! - (Aug 2026 - ABNB)

This house was a home away from home- the owners thought of every little thing to make the stay relaxing and comfortable and also shared personal photos, books, and games to make you feel like a true and trusted friend. The views are gorgeous from every angle. The most comfortable leather couch and chairs I've ever sat on, though we didn't do much sitting. If you're into homemade pies and quiches, the church on Main Street has a sale every Wednesday at noon! Rather than wait for other stores who are often closed just when you need them. The location is central to NE, SW harbors and Acadia trails go in either direction. A word to the wise, if there is much wind don't do a whale watch (many of the guests were getting motion sickness). We loved our stay. Thank you for sharing this very special place with us.

We loved the place!

The cottage was very nice and comfortable. Although there are neighbors, you couldn't hear anything because it sits in the woods on at least an acre lot. The best thing about the place, however, was the locations. It is closed to everthing. Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and of course Acadia. I think we made a great choice staying here.  
We loved the place! It was the very best location for what we wanted to experience. Close proximity to the park (very close) and also to the many towns we wanted to visit, including Bar Harbor. It was very clean, and everything worked wonderfully. No issues whatsoever.

Acadia is stunning and I'm so glad this house was available!

Our weeklong family vacation was great! The kitchen was well-stocked, and we enjoyed grilling and eating in a few times after hiking and/or biking. The house was very clean and spacious enough for six people. The views off the deck were so nice. Bar Harbor is about 15 minutes away. We enjoyed the Rotary's pancake breakfast on the Fourth of July and watched the parade afterward. Acadia is stunning and I'm so glad this house was available! - (Jul 2024 - ABNB)

After being busy all day in Bar Harbor or Acadia, coming back to this place was a welcome and relaxing retreat! This rental was hands down our favorite

This rental was hands down our favorite we have ever stayed, the pictures just don't do it justice. It has everything you could possibly need in the house and it was the most cozy and comfortable place! We all felt right at home. It was very clean. it felt like we were the first guests that have ever stayed , but it has been a rental for a long time. We needed to ask the owners a question during our stay and they got back to us very quickly and that was helpful knowing we had communication with them if needed. A wonderful place!!

A wonderful place!! Beautiful, clean, efficient, spacious cottage, exceptional kitchen - there were four of us. No problems at all at any stage of the stay. A very private location, but convenient to everything on MDI. Exceptional view from the front porch of Sargent Mountain (and others) and a piece of Somes Sound, as we looked out over pines and a meadow. The morning we left I put my cell phone out on the front porch and ran the Merlin app bird sound ID for an hour. Got 16 species, including red crossbills. We heard loons calling from Somes Sound on several occasions. Hummingbirds came to the feeder. Several deer grazed in the meadow while we were there. What a wonderful home away from home.

What a wonderful home away from home. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The pictures don't do it justice, and the view is spectacular. For a family of three, there was plenty of space for us and lots of information about the island lying around. Since we made our visit during the off season we did enough cooking to say that the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Absolutely lovely home! Six of us stayed here for a week - my husband and I, our two boys, and his parents. The house had the perfect amount of sleeping space for all of us, and each room was adorably and tastefully decorated. Although the house is not huge, it is very open and feels very spacious. We never felt crowded (and with 6 of us, the 2.5 bathrooms were appreciated!). The double decks provided gorgeous views of the forest and Somes Sound, which we enjoyed each and every day. My husband and I left the sliding deck door off the master bedroom open on several nights to let in the cool breeze and listen to the sounds of the loons and other animals. The house is more than fully stocked with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen as well as plenty of books and games. The temperature controls throughout the house made it easy to keep us all comfortable. The sunroom is particularly lovely as well. One thing to watch for is that our GPS did not have an accurate location for the house so we had to keep driving to find it; make sure you drive slowly so you don't miss it! Beautiful Home

We have never rented a home before as we normally stay at hotels. We weren't really sure what to expect upon arrival but this home is exactly as depicted in the pictures and description. It is beautiful! We loved that the living area was on the top floor so we could enjoy the views from the wall of windows. Most mornings we would see deer. The kitchen has everything you need, even had some spices, oils, tea and coffee. The bedrooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. There were more than enough towels, sheets and blankets. Our favorite room was the sunroom, where we sat every evening. There were DVDs, puzzles, games, and plenty of books to entertain. The best cabin ever stayed in

The cabin was great, professionally cleaned and furnished to smallest detail level. It had everything our family of 6 needed. A lot of space to sleep and relax. Location is very good: 15 min to Bar Harbor, 2-5 min to closest trails / beach on the lake we've enjoyed a lot. Every day we had deers passing by and enjoyed the sunset looking at Cadillac mountain.
