Anchorage is a beautiful, peaceful cottage in a woodsy secluded spot right on Southwest Harbor. It was beautifully decorated, all the amenities you need and plenty of space for 4 adults (i.e. parents and grandparents) and 2 kids. The cottage has access to the water, and is a quick walk to the Manset town dock, a nearby awesome restaurant/tavern (Peter Trout's) and a short drive or bike ride to downtown Southwest Harbor. We all had a great vacation at Anchorage!

Sitting back off the road and having a beautiful view of the harbor, this home is spacious and relaxing.

We have stay on Mount Desert Island on two previous occasions but this was our first stay on the Southwest Harbor side of the island. This house is quintessential Southwest Harbor. Sitting back off the road and having a beautiful view of the harbor, this home is spacious and relaxing. It is about a 30 min. drive to Bar Harbor and about 40 min to some of the main Acadia attractions such as Sand Beach, Jordan's Pond and Cadillac Mt. This was a bit of a draw back as it required more planning if you were hiking and eating dinner in Bar Harbor, but there are a few dining options in the nearby little town of Southwest Harbor. There are trails as well on the Southwest side and they accommodate all levels. The house itself is nicer that the pictures appear. Rooms were spacious with many many windows. All the windows and trees made the home comfortable for sleeping, despite no a/c. I would recommend this house for a second trip to Acadia but would stay closer to BH for 1st visit. - (Aug 2023 - ABNB)

FABULOUS! Will stay again.

FABULOUS! Will stay again. Photos don't do it justice. Tidy, spacious, comfortable, homey without being overbearing or cluttered. Can walk to a private little spot on the harbor & watch the sunset. Can see & hear the harbor sights & sounds from the back deck. Plumbing & showers great. Towels, beach chairs, pantry basics, kitchen supplies. Excellent communication with host. Our family has vegan, gluten free, & Omni eaters. To satisfy these different needs, we recommend Rogue, & Sweet-pea Cafe. Side Street Cafe in Bar Harbor was disappointing. IGA in Southwest Harbor was surprisingly well stocked & a huge help-they have GF bread. Besides all the popular stuff on the island, we recommend Seal Harbor Automobile Museum for a rainy day. We had to get up at 3am to make Sunset on Cadillac and it was still SO WORTH IT. Come home at night and play Rummikub! Great game! - (Jun 2022 - ABNB)

The Anchorage was the perfect home for our family of five

The Anchorage was the perfect home for our family of five. This well-equipped, comfortable home was more than expected with its quiet location and access to the water. We loved hearing the boats early in the morning, the warm sun on the deck in the afternoon and evening walks along the harbor. Southwest Harbor had everything to make our Maine vacation complete, from restaurants, to baked goods, ice cream, charming shops and kayaking tours. And Acadia Cottage Rentals communicated everything we needed to know, making a most enjoyable experience. The Anchorage is an A+++

The Anchorage in Southwest Harbor is an ideal location for visiting the area and hiking in Acadia. The owner's attention to detail and anticipating guests expectations is far beyond most rentals we have used. The house is very comfortable, spacious and well maintained with comfy beds, plenty of towels, an extremely well stocked kitchen and helpful directions. My family and I really enjoyed our stay.

The house was in great shape and very well provisioned. The town of Southwest Harbor is nice and quiet and great for families. Bar Harbor is about 30 min away. My family of 5 was comfortable in this house and it is right in the bay. If we come back to Acadia I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

An absolute gem!

An absolute gem! A beautiful roomy cottage 20 minutes to just about anything at Acadia. The beach at the cottage was wonderful to sit at after a long day of hiking and biking or the perfect way to start the day. We found some wonderful sea glass too! Highly recommend this cottage. The perfect spot for a family to enjoy time together!

The house is perfect for an Acadia retreat

The house is perfect for an Acadia retreat: very private, spacious, with great views of the sea and everything provided you could possibly need! the host was extremely responsive to questions (e.g. brought over a hair dryer when we didn't find one). wifi was fast and stable as well. would stay again! - (May 2021 - ABNB)

Loved sitting on the deck having breakfast seeing the Harbor and hearing the sounds.

We loved the house it was a great stay. Wonderful charming older home with a lot of character. The home is decorated perfectly! Nautical theme with wonderful antiques placed throughout. Kitchen is stocked with everything that you could need, and a lot of thought has been placed in providing all other amenities that is needed. i.e grill has a propane match and cleaning utensils attached, beach towel and chairs available, and plenty of comfortable towels provided. Loved sitting on the deck having breakfast seeing the Harbor and hearing the sounds. If we are ever visiting the area again, I would definitely try to book Anchorage cottage.

If you are going to be spending time near Acadia National Park, you should definitely rent Anchorage cottage. The photos on the airbnb site don't really capture the openness and charm of this home. The 3 bedrooms upstairs are large with comfortable beds, and the spacious hallway and bathroom are furnished nicely with antiques. There is excellent water pressure in the shower. The downstairs is very open with comfortable living room and dining room furniture and the kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need for baking or for preparing meals. There is also a large deck furnished with a table and chairs-perfect for enjoying meals outside with a peek of the harbor. A short walk through the yard and boardwalk leads to the waterfront where you can sit and enjoy the tides and boat traffic. The home includes many nice welcoming touches, and there is plenty of room to store your own things. The Ship Harbor and Flying Mountain trails at Acadia are a short drive away. The house also includes many books and games and internet and television (which we didn't really use, since we had such gorgeous weather for the week that we were there). The town of Southwest Harbor is right around the corner and has many shops and restaurants. The property managers are easy to reach and respond immediately. - (Sep 2020 - ABNB)
