We stayed 1 week at the cottage. It is a very Maine cottage. It is rustic and comfortable. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful. It had everything we needed! We loved having a fire every day. The cottage also has ample and interesting reading material and lots and lots of games. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. We loved our stay in this cabin. The location in a beautiful wooded spot just outside the village of SW Harbor was perfect for us. It's so close to some of the most beautiful hikes on the quiet side of the island and away from the crowds of Bar Harbor. my husband and I love the privacy in the yard and the feeling of being in the woods

We are repeat renters of this great Maine cottage. The location is near several great hiking trails, which makes it a favorite for our pup. And my husband and I love the privacy in the yard and the feeling of being in the woods while we're still in a neighborhood. Can't recommend highly enough.

This is our fourth year in a row spending a week at Gilbert Cottage, so that should tell you everything you need to know. It's a great location on the "quiet side" of Mt. Desert Island but within an easy, less than half an hour drive to literally everything, and there's an Acadia National Park trailhead just down the road at Long Pond. We love the full kitchen, which allows us to cook up all the delicious ingredients from the farmers markets and farm markets in the area. Can't recommend highly enough. - (Oct 2024 - ABNB)

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place in the woods

This beautiful old cottage was the perfect jumping off place for a week of exploring Acadia. We could be at a majestic pond in less than a mile, running on gravel roads in less than a half mile, and walking through Southwest Harbor within a 3-minute drive. Being on the "Quietside" was ideal, and so was the rustic feel of the lodge. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place in the woods, close to the heart of the park but far from the congestion of Bar Harbor. - (Aug 2024 - VRBO)

The cottage is wonderfully rustic.

This is our 3rd year at this Cottage, and we loved it all again. So much so we've already booked our time for next year. The cottage is wonderfully rustic, spacious (for 2 adults and a medium-sized dog) and just remote enough for privacy, but not too far from the town of Southwest Harbor (~5 minutes) or Bar Harbor (~25 minutes). There are wonderful hiking trails within a half mile distance down by Long Pond, which our pup loves. You can also kayak on the pond! All in all, this Cottage is a perfect place to stay while visiting Acadia National Park! - (Nov 2023 - ABNB)

Very comfortable place located in a quiet part of Acadia

Quaint and cozy

Perfect location on Southwest Harbor. Close to Acadia National Park. House is perfect for a family . Loved the outdoor fire pit for making smoores. Near Echo lake, so convienent for kayaking. We felt right at home and didn't want to leave. Would stay here again!!
