The real star of this show house, though, is the huge deck overlooking pristine Long Pond and the hills of Acadia on the far shore, with filtered light though the pines and breezes almost all the time--the kind of place where you doze in the dappled sunlight and sparkling refections off the water and forget the rest of the world. Then, a visit to the dock, a plunge into the cool water and...wake up!

We loved our week at this special home right on the lake.
We loved our week at this special home right on the lake. The bedrooms/bathrooms set on either side of the house are perfect for two adult couples. The house was amazingly clean (even the BBQ) and well stocked for cooking (great pots, pans, toaster oven, utensils etc) and living (extra blankets, plenty of towels, propane for the grill, and plenty of firewood too!) We loved the deck and watching the sunset from the little private floating dock. The furniture has been upgraded since the photos were taken for the listing - the sofa and 2 chairs in the living room are comfier than the ones pictured. The larger (king) bedroom has an easy access shower which was great for my parents, while the guest (queen) bedroom has a tub/shower. We didn't use the lofts, but if you plan to and are curious: the loft folks can use the guest bath without walking through the guest bedroom (there's a sliding door between the guest bathroom and bedroom). The forced air heat is a little noisy, but kept us warm! - (Oct 2024 - ABNB)

Incredible Mount Desert Island hideaway - highly reccomend!
We stayed at Camp Shulman for a week in mid-June and absolutely loved it! The house does not disappoint and the pictures shown are very accurate for what the house is actually like. The deck is the best part - HUGE and right on top of the water. The small dock off the house was a lot of fun too and we also got good use out of the fireplace. The house has totally refurbished bathrooms and kitchen. This house is perfect if you're looking for a remote, quiet retreat, but it's also only about 15 minutes from Southwest Harbor and about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor. It's a great spot because you can go into town as much as you like, but then retreat to this little gem at the end of the day. This house would be great for two couples or for a small family, but we also enjoyed it for just two people. The property managing agent is great too - very efficient and answered all our questions right away.
