This 3000 sq ft house is in an excellent location - tucked in the woods on 12 acres of land that abuts Acadia National Park and the historic Carroll Farm Homestead. Very private setting ( deer sightings are not uncommon here) but easily accessible to town, the harbor and many great hikes.
It is a 5 minute trail walk to the historic Carroll Farm Homestead (part of Acadia); the old Doll trail is walking access to Fernald Point Road which is where the Causeway golf course is located as well as the trailheads for Flying Mountain and Valley Peak. Flying Mountain is a family friendly hike with breathtaking views of the islands. Valley Cove is a stunning, cliff-lined cove, accessible down a stroller friendly fire road. Town can be reached either by a peaceful 2.5 mile walk over the Mill Dam, with gorgeous views of the harbor, or a quick 1 mile drive down the main road. The town of Southwest Harbor has shops, restaurants, a playground and of course the harbor, where there are numerous tour boat and sailing opportunities. The grocery store is .5 miles away and the 'Top of the Hill Restaurant' is at the head of the road as is the Island Explorer bus stop (a 2 minute walk).
The house itself is 3 bedrooms, 2 - baths with a good sized yard, two porches, and a swing set. Upstairs has two bedrooms, each with a skylight and big window looking out into the woods. One has two twin beds and the other has a full sized bed. Upstairs there is also a full bath with skylight and tub and shower. Also upstairs is a study/sitting area with desk and bookshelves.
Downstairs is a large master bedroom with a private outside access door, a queen size bed and private bathroom with a shower. There is a living room with a baby grand piano, a dining room (seats 6-8) and game/tv area. Also downstairs is a half bathroom with stacked washer and dryer. The fully equipped kitchen has a breakfast nook that seats 4. The kitchen has all the usual appliances plus a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, food processor, blender and a grill on the porch attached to the kitchen.
